What are dermal filler’s made of?
There are different types of dermal fillers and choosing the right one is important. Most dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid which is a natural substance that our body naturally makes to prevent your body from dehydrating. Most popular brands include Restylane,
Belotero and Juvederm which are made of Hyaluronic Acid.
There are also the longer-lasting collagen stimulating dermal fillers which are made from polycaprolactone, calcium hydroxyapatite, polyalkylimide, or polylactic acid. These dermal filler’s last longer due to the stimulation of your natural collagen and have a more subtle and natural look. Popular brands include Sculptra, Radiesse and PDO Threads.
Where can they be used?
Dermal fillers can be used anywhere on the face to help improve facial creases, lift sunken areas, improve dark circles, and add volume to the cheeks, lips and temples. Adding filler to the jawline can add definition and can improve the jowls. Fillers can help to smooth out wrinkles, plump your lips and cheeks, soften the lines around your mouth, lift and tighten the face. Other areas of the body can be improved with dermal fillers such as the hands to reduce the look of veins and thinning. Sculptra is often used in the buttocks as well to stimulate collagen which in turn adds volume.
What results can I expect?
When using a hyaluronic acid type of filler your results are immediate and noticeable. With collagen stimulating fillers you can expect to see results over a period of time as effects take a few months to fully kick in
How long will dermal fillers last?
Dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid can last anywhere between six to eighteen months depending on the density and the formulation of the product used. With collagen stimulating fillers, because it stimulates your natural collagen results can last anywhere between one to five years.
Does getting dermal fillers hurt?
