What is cellulite?
Cellulite is a cosmetic skin condition that is very common, especially among women. Cellulite isn’t an issue with your skin, but rather the structure underneath it. Underneath your skin, there are pockets of fat that squeeze between bands of tissue. The result: bumpy, lumpy flesh. The ‘dimples’ generally affects certain areas of the abdomen, hips, legs and buttocks.
Reasons for cellulite:
- Genetics: Certain genes are required for cellulite development. Genetic factors can be linked to a person’s speed of metabolism, distribution of fat under the skin, ethnicity, and circulatory levels. .
- Hormonal Imbalances: Cellulite develops due to changes in the size and structure of your fat cells. This is why it has been suggested that hormones like insulin and catecholamines, which are involved in fat breakdown and storage, could play key roles in its formation.
- Poor Diet: Poor eating habits (including the excess consumption of alcohol, caffeine, and spicy foods) can contribute to the formation of cellulite because the toxins they produce get trapped in the fatty tissue.
- Lack of Exercise: Strengthening the muscles tightens and tones your entire physique, which may make your skin look smoother.
- Fluid Retention: Water helps flush excess toxins from the body.
- Smoking: Smoking can also increase the rate at which collagen breaks down, accelerating the development and appearance of cellulite.
Grades of Cellulite
Mild Grade 1: is characterized by stippling of the skin, compared to orange peel skin, without deep pits of large nodules.
Moderate Grade 2: is mild to moderate sized nodule formation with occasional superficial pits.
Severe Grade 3: exhibits very deep and numerous pits and large, visibly elevated nodules.

Professionals who treat the skin condition say that it is important to develop reasonable expectations when you investigate different cellulite treatments. While there isn’t a specific way to eliminate cellulite forever, there are treatments available to help you reduce its appearance.
Here below are some of our most effective and favorite treatments.
Z-Wave or Zimmer- The Zimmer transmits powerful radial shockwaves onto and through the skin for significantly improving appearance of cellulite.
Body Tite FX or BodyFX – Uses focused and targeted radio-frequency energy to tighten the dermis and collagen, destroying the fat cells in the process.
Mesotherapy– The vitamin infused injections work to eliminate fatty deposits under the skin and thus reducing cellulite.
Cellfina- Cellfina breaks down and attacks the fibrous bands that cause the dimples associated with cellulite allowing the fat to sit more evenly under the skin.
Cellulite Reduction at Home:
Diet- Eliminate any fast foods in your diet and stick with healthy, lean home-made meals that incorporate lots of vegetables and water.
Exercise– Cardio combined with strength training can help reduce cellulite.
Creams– Many of these skincare products use caffeine, retinol and other agents that can help smooth out the appearance of cellulite. The main issue with all creams is that they don’t reach deep enough to effectively treat the appearance of cellulite.
Brushing/Massaging– The motion improves circulation and helps flush waste and toxins by stimulating the lymphatic system. Doing all of this can certainly parlay into skin radiance and glow and a plumper appearance.
Pills– There are several oral supplements sold online and in health food stores that claim to improve circulation and treat cellulite from the “inside out.” There’s no science behind that they actually work.
